Thirty-eight trees fell on-campus in this year’s ice storm, yet flowers are blooming and spring has still sprung on Pierce College.

Antjuan Williams, 25, enrolled at Pierce College last summer. Williams and his wife Porsche, who also attends school and is transferring to the University of Washington Tacoma, have two children, Arriell, 3, and Gabriel, 5.

Go big or go home. If you work hard to go on a far away trip, then go to a far away land. London, Paris and Venice are more familiar and less romantic than you would think. Don’t be part of the tourist trap. Go to an exotic country where you can discover new and beautiful things, have time to appreciate them and make the destination part of your own life journey.

When the closest thing to an action movie that I’ve ever seen is Twister, Battleship really blew my mind. I’ve always avoided action movies, let alone sci-fi action, because of my low tolerance for unrealistic situations.

PierceWorks! is a class that lasts seven weeks and helps students find and secure careers. Instructor Evelyn Brooks has seen students anywhere between 18 and 74 years old come and go since 1994, when PierceWorks! began.

Pierce College President Patrick Schmitt will be leaving after graduation June 15 to prepare for his new appointment as chancellor of West Valley-Mission Community College District in Santa Clara Valley.

Pierce college student technology fees will be supplying the Puyallup campus’ nursing department with $31,870 of lab equipment in part of a national movement of the Healthcare Informatics: Policy, Technology, and Money to transition to completely electronic records by 2014.

This year however, as my current co-workers can attest, I don’t look my best most days. Looking good isn’t the most important thing to me, not that I would have time if it was.

Next year, the physics lab on campus is scheduled to receive new interfaces.

Broxson, current division chair for business and social sciences at Pierce College Puyallup, will begin his new position as the dean of natural sciences starting July 1 with the district reorganization.
