The Pierce College cheer squad started this sports season with a kick.
At Pierce’s volleyball game against Highline Community College, the cheer squad stunned students by stacking into a high pyramid and undertaking other stunts.
The male cheerleaders were doing back flips right off the floor.
When the squad left the floor, the crowd was still cheering.
They have cheered at three home volleyball games so far and soon will be cheering at basketball games.
Head Cheer Coach Danyelle Bennest said she is excited about this year’s squad, which consists of 10 cheerleaders.
“We have an amazing group of kids this year,” Bennest said. “The talent is endless.”
Of the 10, three are male and seven are female. Bennest said that so far the squad has shown hard work and dedication.
“We have been practicing bigger and better stunts, fun dances and crowd-pleasing cheers since June,” Bennest said. “This cheer squad is definitely going to blow the socks off the crowd this year, and I can’t wait.”
