Ed Leitner: Pierce loses a friend

Ed Leitner, a former long-time psychology instructor, died April 28, 2011 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Leitner was a faculty member for many years in the psychology and the Early Childhood Education programs. In addition to impacting the lives of students, he worked tirelessly to advance the cause of the college and of the faculty, psychology and sociology professor Leon Khalsa-Maulen said.16-8-leitner

He loved being a union member and advocating for the good of all full and part time faculty. His role in the PCFT leadership and service as union president, and chief negotiator produced some of the biggest gains in contract provisions and working conditions.

Leitner believed in the dedication of college employees and the importance of what they do and the role they play in the lives of students.

“I have been and will continue to be inspired by the example he modeled for me during all the years we worked side by side,” Khalsa-Maulen said.
