Students had a ball at the monster ball

Zombies and vampires danced to Monster Mash. Jail mates and fairies solved a murder mystery. And Monster Ball possessed all the elements of a perfect Halloween party.

Almost 165 Pierce College students from Puyallup and Fort Steilacoom campuses attended this year’s Monster Ball party cruise.

During the cruise on Oct. 29, students jammed to a DJ from 93.3 KUBE FM, enjoyed food provided by Argosy cruises and took part in a live murder mystery put on by Lucky Lady events.

The ship left the docks at 8 p.m. and returned at 11 p.m. Tables and chairs were placed on the lower deck of the boat, where the food was. The dance floor and drink bar took up the upper deck. Students could watch the water while sitting on chairs on the edges of the ship.

During the trip, several students took part in a live murder mystery that featured professional actors. Most participants solved the mystery correctly.

Many students also took part in a costume contest on the dance floor. The winners of the contest were student Brea Wolfe and her husband, Kyle, dressed as a grandma and grandpa. Runners up were students Chad Farmer and his wife, Amy, dressed as two Oompa Loompas from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The couples’ prizes were poker sets. The first place winners received a small trophy.

Students who attended the Monster Ball received treat bags as they left the ship.
