Are you a new student who has been wanting to see the Pierce College campus with your own eyes? Have you been wanting to learn more about enrollment? With Pierce College’s online virtual tours, you can.
The virtual tours are currently scheduled until the end of July and are led by District Outreach Managers Ruth Schindler and Abigail Bae. The tours are offered once a week on Tuesdays at 3 p.m.
“We expect that a wide range of students will sign up for these tours,” Bae said. “The tours are designed to provide general information so that any type of student may attend. Whether it is a new, returning, adult, or Running Start student, all will be able to participate.”
The college is utilizing Zoom to provide these guided tours of both the Puyallup and Fort Steilacoom campus.
Students don’t need to have a Zoom account to participate in the tour and will be able to ask questions either through their microphone or through Zoom’s text chat feature.
“We highlight several services offered to students such as the writing center, tutoring center, bookstore and more,” Bae said. “Along with familiarizing students with the buildings on each campus, we will also be sharing general admissions information.”
These tours are intended to give students an idea of what Pierce College has to offer in terms of student resources, support and academics.
“The virtual tours are one way of showing students that we are still here for them,” said Bae. “We are here to help and to guide them because starting school, whether it’s as a new student or returning student, can be daunting.”
Since students are currently unable to physically visit the campus, the campus is being “brought to them” in the form of these virtual tours.
“We hope that with students being able to attend these tours from the safety of their own home, we can encourage them to take that first step in getting their education,” Bae said.
